THE LANXESS SNYO CLASSIC

Grooming the next crescendo of classical music in Singapore

The LANXESS SNYO CLASSIC is a mentorship and cultural exchange program developed by specialty chemicals company LANXESS and the Singapore National Youth Orchestra (SNYO). Announced in May 2010, this platform was conceived to support and nurture local young talents in classical music.

Through this program, LANXESS creates a platform for Singapore’s young classical music talents to interact with, learn from and perform with the world’s leading classical musicians. This is executed through mentorship workshops held in Singapore, overseas study tours and annual public concert performances to maximise the benefit for the SNYO musicians.

The primary objective is to provide young classical musicians with an opportunity to have first-hand experiences, learning from world-class artists both at home and abroad. It also encourages musical development and to build excellence. By allowing Singapore’s young musical talents to interact with established professionals from North America and Europe, it provides a platform to allow cultural exchange through classical music.  The public concerts, which are held annually, further enable the SNYO to showcase and celebrate budding music talents, together with their mentors.

LANXESS’ support towards the mentorship program demonstrates the company’s commitment towards making a difference in the lives of youths in Singapore through classical music. By bringing the SNYO youths in direct contact with musicians of international standing and offering an opportunity for joint performances, this initiative aims to create an immediate impact on their experience and journey as classical musicians and serves as a source of inspiration for greater achievement.
