LANXESS announced in May 2010 the launch of LANXESS SNYO Classic, a three-year mentorship and cultural exchange program developed with the Singapore National Youth Orchestra. The program is specially designed to enable young classical musicians to learn from a variety of world class artists skilled in different instruments. Notably, a hallmark of LANXESS SNYO Classic is its inclusiveness, as all orchestra members will participate in the mentorship programme.

The program is scheduled to begin in November 2010, with the arrival of Stewart Rose, a leading exponent of the French horn. In April 2011, the internationally celebrated violinist Lara St. John will play with the orchestra and the renowned flutist, Andrea Griminelli, has been invited to play in 2012.

Dr. Axel C. Heitmann, Chairman of the Board of Management for LANXESS AG, said, “The LANXESS SNYO Classic goes beyond improving instrumental skills. Learning and interacting with top musicians offer an enlightening and inspiring experience that could help those who aspire cross over to new frontiers of excellence.”

The Chairman of the SNYO Management Board, Dr. Kee Kirk Chin, said, “We are very pleased to be working with LANXESS, which has strong interest and commitment to supporting culture and youth. The LANXESS SNYO Classic will certainly enrich the artistic and cultural life of Singapore.”
