Nothing speaks to the future of Singapore more eloquently than the beautiful music of the Singapore National Youth Orchestra (SNYO).
LANXESS is pleased to announce the three-year LANXESS SNYO CLASSIC program – a mentorship and cultural exchange initiative that will enable young talented people to learn from and perform with world-renowned classical musicians. Each year, a prominent musician will travel to Singapore to work closely with the orchestra, then perform together in a public concert. Annually, three top SNYO students will have the opportunity to study abroad with major artistes.
LANXESS' support for classical music in Singapore is an extension of the company's worldwide efforts to nurture young talent through cultural exchange. In addition to the LANXESS SNYO CLASSIC program, LANXESS has sponsored tours of China by the Young Euro Classic Orchestra, the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra directed by Daniel Barenboim, and numerous other cultural, educational programs and events.
The distinguished mentors for the LANXESS SNYO CLASSIC program are:
2010 Stewart Rose, a leading exponent of the French horn
2011 Lara St. John, the internationally celebrated violinist
2012 Andrea Griminell, the renowned flautist
What sets our mentors apart is their exceptional achievements as well as their passion for nurturing the young. From the start, these masters too were keen to give back to society and excited about this youth project. That's how the partnership started.
Dr Kee Kirk Chin, Chairman of the SNYO Management Board, said: "LANXESS has truly made a significant investment to the artistic and cultural capital of Singapore."
