The diversity of rubber’s properties, the scope of its varieties and the still far from exhausted potential of its applications have ensured the sustained growth of sales on the international market for many years.  In particular, economically dynamic markets in Asian countries such as China and India, as well as in Russia, Eastern Europe and Latin America, are developing into both strong customers and production bases for the rubber industry.

Including rubber used by the tire industry, manufacturers produced 12,819,000 metric tons of synthetic rubber across the world in 2008, according to estimates from the German Rubber Industry Trade Association; consumption amounted to 12,573,000 metric tons.
